The Bad, The Worst, and the Ugly!

Here's where we are starting! This is our little home that we purchased in May of 2011.  The layout is great, the neighborhood is quiet, we're close to school and the grandparents....

What we knew going into the deal was that this home would take some updating.  You know, no big deal... a little flooring, some paint, a few faucet replacements... no problem! Our home was hiding a secret... although it was built in 1991, it had some major hangovers from the 1980's...

Sponge painting and horrible tiles! This is not the relaxing view I wanted from my master bath jacuzzi!

Oak vanities in the master bath and 1980's vinyl sheet flooring

Dead trees...

More oak cabinetry...

lots of oak cabinetry...
...and MORE oak cabinetry!

gray cloth vertical blinds...

Paint splatter technique in my daughter's room- *gag*
Disgusting carpet and more bad painting choices...

The kitchen border...

What?!?! What is going on with that flooring?

The 1980's strike again with this formica choice! And note the fashionable handles (you do hear the sarcasm dripping from my voice don't you?)

So... hear we go... on a mission to turn our midwest outdated home into a cozy, laid back cottage retreat!  You've seen the bad, the worst and the ugly so far.

Now we'll see some changes, hopefully for the good! Our first project to tackle was the master bathroom... all but the flooring is in! Here's some sweet After pics...

Jacuzzi corner updated...

Flat oak doors are now dressed up!

Look how beautiful that vanity looks now!

Cool bulkhead lights!

I covered the horrible tiles with cork, painted the walls sea green and the trim and woodwork primitive white, added paneling to the door, new faucets, installed bulkhead lights and created some wall art.

Stick around for more changes!
